The Google Android operating system offers credit card processing in real time. It is available through Roam Data. Droid owners who already use Roam Data for merchant credit card services just need to install the ROAMpay application from the Android market. Owners without a merchant account just need to download ROAMpay to their phone. Once the download is completed, an account activation number is issued to simplify the merchant account application process.

This Droid credit card processing application will email receipts to customers at the completion of the sale. ROAMpay also will record cash sales with email receipts. The sale can be voided during the first 24 hours of completion and Roam Data will release the authorization hold on the customers credit card account. Even though merchants can store their customer information in their MyRoam account, this data is secure. The transaction and customer data entered into the Google phone is not stored there. It is encrypted and sent to Roam Data immediately, unless the phone is offline. Then it is encrypted and sent as soon as the phone goes online again. Loss or theft of the phone will not compromise customer data. This spares the merchant the embarrassment and loss of faith by customers from identity theft by hackers. If the phone is lost or stolen, the merchant just reports it to Roam Data and a new activation number is issued at no extra charge.
